12on12 | Travis Scott x Saint Laurent

Rap star and Kylie Jenner’s bae Travis Scott is now making designer music. Today, Saint Laurent announced that it has teamed up with its new rap muse on a limited-edition vinyl record with tracks accompanied by Kanye West, James Blake, Frank Ocean, and Bon Iver. There are 500 numbered editions of the album, created by Scott with artistic direction from Saint Laurent’s head designer Anthony Vaccarello. Slipped inside a black leather pouch, each album will be sold exclusively at Colette in Paris—a literal swan song for the famed retailer before it officially closes for good on December 20. Scott will be on hand December 18 to sign the records for a select number of lucky fans.

The rap-and–fashion world mash-up comes one year after Scott starred in Saint Laurent’s Spring 2017 campaign video and nearly one month after the label launched a special capsule collection of objects—sex toys included—with Colette. If Vacarello’s recent projects involving music and merchandise are any indication, 2018 is going to be a surprising year for the storied French fashion house. So might we soon see a Le Smoking suit designed by Travis Scott? Let the words on the liner notes of the new record be our point of reference: “May Cactus Jack and Saint Laurent dance together forever.”
