Travis Scott x Saint Laurent
In 2002, Yves Saint Laurent confessed: "I have played a role in the transformation of this generation. I have done it using clothes, which is surely less important than music, architecture and painting, but I have done it nevertheless." A lover of all art forms, the designer has never hidden his affection for the musical world, influencing the shift from rock to pop during the 1970s and designing the outfits for Mick and Bianca Jagger's legendary wedding in St Tropez.
With the Saint Laurent Musique Project, Hedi Slimane continues this approach after taking over as Saint Laurent's creative director in 2012. A number of seminal musical stars participated in this project, including David Bowie, The Libertines, and even The Kills, giving the brand worldwide notoriety.
As Saint Laurent's creative director, Anthony Vaccarello tapped into the brand's musical heritage and introduced new lifestyle products. By taking this approach, the fashion house made its first foray into hip-hop through its partnership with12on12. Vaccarello picked Travis Scott to curate an exclusive playlist that included Kanye West, Cardi B, Bon Iver, and James Blake. Additionally, he created a vinyl jacket crafted from Saint Laurent leather and lined with red suede.
Saint Laurent would make Travis Scott its 'face of its brand' the following season.
